The traditional holiday toke
It’s that holiday time of the year again – a time for parties, presents and flirtation under the mistletoe (or the substantially less romantic, yet addictive spinning of a dradle). But not all of us are feeling jolly just from the egg nog.
When did smoking a joint become a holiday party tradition?
Maybe I’m just a party pooper, but it bugs me a little, just how casual it’s become. I know, it’s Vancouver – “everybody does it”, “just get used to it”. But my fellow party-goers have to know that the proceeds from their drug purchases are ultimately going to fund organized crime – which might make this holiday season less nice for some. - “Yo, Mac, go use that pot money to buy guns so we can sell them to your buddies and then we’ll have enough dough to buy a boatload of refugees and stick them in brothels. Oh, and merry Christmas.”
This is the season to be jolly, and I’m not going to force any of my mellow friends into doing without their holiday weed. Just remember that a stoned driver is as dangerous as a drunk one. Take a taxi, a bus, get a ride from a designated driver, whatever. Have a safe and merry holiday.
