Vancouver's peaceniks hijacked by MAWO

Canadians are hell-bent on killing as many Muslims as they can (or locking them up in secret prisons, wherever the first option is logistically untenable) - because, um, they are racist imperial vampires.

At least, that's what one might think if the only thing they read was the website of the Vancouver branch of Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO).

MAWO's anti-imperial propagandists (who seem a little out of place protesting the policies of a former colony) have been burning the midnight oil in the run-up to a planned march on Vancouver's recruiting centre next week.

Their latest cause celebre: The Toronto 17 - otherwise known to the world as the deranged idiots that obtained three tons of ammonium nitrate and explosives components with which to blow up stuff (and lots of people) around Canada's biggest metropolitan centre. (Not surprisingly, MAWO's stident report on this doesn't mention any of the incriminating evidence reported in every reputable media report across the globe).

Defending suspected terrorists doesn't make the world a more just and peaceful place. Neither does implying that the government and virtually all Canadians are racist warmongers.

So long as those that espouse peaceful solutions to the world's problems allow these people to represent them, they will remain tainted by the lunatic fringe.
